The Benissa Town Council, through the public company Benissa Impuls, has implemented an innovative digital water treatment and control system in its heated municipal swimming pool. This project, announced on 23 June, 2026This places the municipality at the national forefront of health and sustainability, reinforcing its commitment to technological innovation.

The Benissa swimming pool, which was already a pioneer during the Covid-19 health crisis by integrating a cold plasma air treatment system, is now taking another step forward. The facility incorporates the technology EPOX and the smart management platform Watersite®, both developed by the company Geodesic Innovations.

Healthier water and real-time digital control

The new system uses electroporation and advanced oxidation processes to physically eliminate microorganisms, dispensing with traditional methods that require intensive use of chemicals. Thanks to this technology, pool users will enjoy a healthier swimming experience, with crystal-clear water, free from the characteristic chlorine smell and taste, and without the discomforts usually associated with chemical treatments, such as eye, skin, and mucous membrane irritations, or certain allergic and respiratory reactions.

Platform Watersite® It allows for continuous and remote monitoring of essential water parameters, including pH, conductivity, turbidity, filter pressure, and disinfection levels. This intelligent management system facilitates the early detection of potential issues, optimizes the overall operation of the facility, and ensures ongoing compliance with all health standards.

Progress in sustainability and operational efficiency

Beyond the improvement in water quality, the incorporated technology represents a significant advance in sustainability and efficiency. Among its main benefits is a reduction of up to 80 % in the amount of replenishment water needed for the operation of the pool.

This considerable decrease in water consumption also leads to significant energy savings, as it reduces the amount of water that needs to be heated daily, which in turn lowers the facility's carbon footprint. Furthermore, process automation will allow for a reduction of approximately 30 % in the time spent on maintenance tasks related to water treatment.

With this initiative, Benissa reinforces its strong position as a municipality committed to innovation, public health, and efficient resource management. The incorporation of these advanced technological solutions not only improves the service offered to citizens but also significantly reduces the environmental impact of its public facilities.
