The Calp City Council has launched this 23 June, 2026 An ambitious virtual tour project allows users to explore prominent tourist attractions such as the Peñón de Ifach, the Banys de la Reina archaeological site, the murals in the old town, and the Calp History Museum. This initiative, which complements the virtual tours of the Red Wall (Muralla Roja) launched a few months ago, aims to make these spaces accessible and interactive for everyone, overcoming barriers of physical access or capacity. Funded by the European Union – Next Generation EU, within the framework of the Tourism Sustainability Plan for Destinations, the project has involved an investment of 186.194,8 Euros.

Advanced technology for an immersive experience
The digitization work has employed a combination of advanced technologies, including photography High-resolution panoramic views, 360° virtual tours, and aerial drone footage were used. Additionally, 3D scanning and modeling techniques were employed to obtain an accurate digital representation of the heritage elements where required.
An interactive gigapixel viewer of Calp allows users to explore the municipality with an extraordinary level of detail, integrating points of interest, virtual tours and direct access to the various digitized heritage and tourist resources.
Banys de la Reina: Historical Reconstruction in 3D
The virtual tour of the Banys de la Reina archaeological site stands out for including a 3D historical reconstruction of the site, along with immersive 360º recreations. These tools allow visitors to compare the current state of the site with its original appearance. Those participating in guided tours of the site will have the opportunity to experience this recreation immersively using augmented reality glasses provided at the site. Penyal d'Ifac: A natural space from new perspectives
The virtual tour of the Penyal d'Ifac offers immersive routes and interactive audiovisual content, providing a unique opportunity to discover one of the most emblematic natural spaces in the Valencian Community. The experience is enhanced by the inclusion of 3D virtual characters who act as digital guides, accompanying visitors throughout the tour.
Murals in the old town and accessible History Museum
The virtualization of the murals in the old town is part of a future project, the Museu d'Art Urbàwhich will be presented soon. This initiative will showcase the artistic ensemble through a digital experience accessible to residents and visitors.
The Calp History Museum, located in the Casa de la Senyoreta, has also been digitized because it is not an accessible building. The project is completed with two educational videos about the archaeological sites of Banys de la Reina and the medieval town of Ifac, which will be projected at the Museu de Història de Calp.
Mireia Ripoll, Councilor for Tourism Planning, points out that "thanks to these technologies, visitors will be able to virtually tour the sites, explore different points of interest, access interpretive content, and enjoy views that, in some cases, are difficult to appreciate during a conventional visit." Furthermore, the councilor adds that "in the case of archaeological and heritage sites, digitization also allows us to preserve and disseminate heritage in an innovative way, facilitating its understanding for both residents and visitors."
