The nautical clubs of the Marina Alta region once again stand out for their commitment to the education environmental and sustainable management. This year, the RCN Dénia, the CN Xàbia, the CN Moraira, the RCN de Calpe and the EV Windsurfing Dénia school are among the 35 schools of the Valencian Community Sailing Federation (FVCV) that will receive the 2025 Blue Pennant, a distinction that recognizes excellence in good environmental and educational practices.
The official award ceremony will be held on Friday, October 24th, as part of the Valencia Boat Show, which takes place from October 22nd to 26th at Marina Port València. The event will be chaired by the FVCV (Spanish Association of Environmental and Consumer Education) and the Association for Environmental and Consumer Education (ADEAC), which is also responsible for the international Blue Flag program.
Environmental excellence and marine education
To obtain the Blue Pennant, each approved sailing school must demonstrate the implementation of innovative projects in sustainability, energy efficiency, and marine awareness.
Among the most notable initiatives are workshops on the ecological function of Posidonia, recycling weeks using recycled materials, coastal cleanup days with schools, and training for instructors to share knowledge about marine biodiversity.
Some schools, such as those in Marina Alta, have also developed educational outings to the Cabo de San Antonio Marine Reserve, reinforcing the connection between water sports and marine conservation.
FVCV activities at the Valencia Boat Show
Throughout the boat show, the FVCV will maintain an active presence with activities on land and at sea, such as the inclusive sailing access point, which will allow people with disabilities to participate in adapted experiences.
The public will also be able to visit the Valencian Government's Tirant Primer Schooner to learn more about the federation's initiatives.
One of the most anticipated moments of the event will be the 22nd Congress of Approved Sailing Schools, which will take place in the Veles e Vents building, just before the presentation of the Blue Pennants.
