The ordinary plenary session of the Pedreguer City Council in July 2026 approved the modification of the dedication regime of the Mayor to adapt it to the retirement of its holder, Sergi Ferrus Peris, which will have effects from the August 31th, 2026The measure means that the mayor will continue to hold office, although without full-time or part-time dedication.
The change is in response to the decision communicated by Sergi Ferrús himself, who has conveyed to the City Council his desire to continue serving as Mayor once his retirement takes effect.
During the plenary session, Ferrús announced: «Upon my retirement effective August 31, 2026, my intention is to continue serving as mayor without full-time or part-time dedication, as I will be able to fulfill the duties of the position without requiring it, and to receive only, as stipulated by law, the attendance fees that, if necessary, correspond to actual attendance at meetings of the governing bodies (plenary, committees, governing board, etc.), that is, under the same conditions as members of the opposition.».
The agreement approved at the beginning of the term is modified.
The proposal approved by the plenary session renders ineffective, from the August 31th, 2026the agreement adopted on July 12, 2023, through which it was established that the Mayor's office would be exercised under a regime of exclusive dedication with the corresponding remuneration and economic conditions.
The agreement stipulates that, from the specified date, Sergi Ferrús will cease to receive remuneration corresponding to the exclusive dedication regime, as well as any other economic entitlement associated with said regime. Instead, he will only be entitled to attendance fees for his actual participation in the meetings of the collegiate bodies of which he is a member, in accordance with the amounts and conditions established in the current plenary agreement that regulates this compensation system.
A modification that complies with the regulations on remuneration
The proposal indicates that the modification is based on the provisions of articles 75 bis and 75 ter of Law 7/1985, Regulating the Bases of the Local Regime, in the wording given by Law 27/2013 on rationalization and sustainability of the Local Administration, regulations that regulate the remuneration system of the members of local corporations.
The plenary session also agreed to forward the modification to the municipal services of Intervention, Treasury and Personnel, so that they can carry out the administrative, budgetary, payroll and contribution actions that are appropriate as a result of the change of regime.
Likewise, the agreement will be published in full in the Official Gazette of the Province and on the municipal notice board, complying with the provisions of the legislation on local government and guaranteeing its official publicity.
