The club of Gimnasia Les Marines de Calp hosted the Regional Phase of the Spanish Team Championships this past Saturday at the Ifach Pavilion in the town of Calp. The event, one of the most important of the individual season, brought together the best gymnasts from the Valencian Community for a day of high-level competition.
The Les Marines gymnasts were represented by seven gymnasts, who delivered outstanding performances in their respective categories. However, the high level of competition limited the number of participants to the national stage, and only Katya Trukhacheva qualified for the Spanish Championships.
The day kicked off with the U12 and U13 categories, where Les Marines presented four athletes. In the U12 category, the team composed of Paula García and Katya Devko made their debut in a regional competition of this caliber. Although both gymnasts showed promising performance, they failed to advance to the next round. In the same category, Laia Martínez competed alongside Claudia Sebastián, from CGR L'Eliana. Their performance, impeccable in execution, was not enough in the eyes of the jury to secure a spot in the national competition.
In the junior division, Daniela Avellà and Yeva Taranenko also put in a strong performance, especially considering it was their first time competing in a regional competition of this size. Despite this, they failed to secure one of the four spots available for the final round.
One of the standout performers in this category came from Sophie O'Reilly, on loan to Club Chamara, who shone with an impeccable ball game that earned her third place in the regional championship. O'Reilly and her teammate Daniela Rodríguez were just 0,20 points shy of qualifying for the national championship.
In the junior category, Katya Trukhacheva represented the Jennifer Colino club with her hoop routine, achieving an outstanding third place in the regional championship. Along with her teammate Martina Valero, also third in the overall standings, Trukhacheva secured the coveted spot in the Spanish Championships to be held in Santander.
CG Les Marines expressed their pride in the performance of their gymnasts: "We want to congratulate all our athletes and the coaching staff for the magnificent competition," the organization stated. They also thanked the collaborating clubs "for trusting our gymnasts to form a team," as well as parents, sponsors, and volunteers "for making the excellent organization of such an important event possible."
The Calpe club thus closes out an intense and high-level day with a very positive outcome, consolidating its position as a regional benchmark in rhythmic gymnastics and demonstrating great potential for the future.
