El Plenary of the Consell has taken note of the declaration of emergency of the commission to the public company Valencian Agency for Strategies and Resources for Environmental Sustainability (Vaersa) for the execution of a complementary wild boar population control serviceas well as for the implementation of a logistics unit intended for the coordination, collection and destruction of downed specimens.
The amount of the order totals four million euros, within six millions intended for emergency plan activated due to African swine fever.
Control in areas without game management
The complementary service includes the installation of capture cages in those areas of the territory of the Valencia that are not under the management of any hunting titlewhich represent approximately the 20% of the total.
These areas are considered priority, since some of the main roads run through them routes connecting to Cataloniawhere it is located active outbreak of African swine fever (ASF).
The device will include the participation of specialized caretakers, enabled as sworn game wardens, the use of approved capture systems and the support of veterinary staff for assistance health technician.
The performances will take place in spaces where the Hunting is not permittedas the security zones, wildlife refuges, common hunting areas, peri-urban areas or areas where the increase in hunting pressure is not sufficient to achieve the population reduction objectives.
Within this framework, the following have been defined 14 zones for the installation of trap boxes: Baix Maestrat, La Plana, Segorbe–Almenara–Serra / Alto Palancia, L'Horta, The Ribera, Valldigna, the Safor, Xativa, Ontinyent, Xàbia-Dénia, The Marina Alta, The Marina Baixa, Cocentaina–Font Roja and the Hondo Natural Park.
Logistics unit for collection and destruction
Moreover, the Decree Law 13/2025, validated last week in Les Corts, foresees the creation of a logistics unit in charge of the collection and destruction of corpses hunted in the different areas where hunting activity is subsidized to promote it.

The specimens killed will be collected in moving points distributed throughout all the regions of the Valencia and will be collected daily in fixed points equipped with cold roomswhere they will remain until their withdrawal by the company in charge of its destruction or its referral to other destinations foreseen in the regional regulations for the management of ungulates.
