The International Festival of Music de Filmmaking Marina Alta, SONAFILMThe SGAE (Spanish Society of Authors and Publishers) presented the contents of its eighth edition this Friday, March 20th, at its headquarters in Madrid. from the 31 from July to the 11 from September with a total of eight concerts distributed between Ondara, DéniaCalp, Beniarbeig, Xàbia and Pego.

Epic and historical cinema, the thematic focus of this edition
The eighth edition will be dedicated to epic and historical cinemamusically exploring major film productions such as Ben-Hur, Gladiator, Troy, The last Samurai, The last Mohican o Alatriste, among others.

The age of empires, central theme and closing of the festival
Jones and Baños will participate in The Age of Empires, the main concert of SONAFILM 8, which will be performed by the Universal Symphony Orchestra, Development festival resident.
This concert will be held on Saturday, August 22nd at 23:00 PM at the Ondara bullring and has been conceived as the grand finale of the festival. Its repertoire will include music from Ben-Hur, Gladiator, Troy, The last Mohican y Alatriste.
The artistic vision of the festival
The festival director, Javier Gil Pérez, pointed out that "the music of epic and historical films not only underscores the action or emotion, but also builds an idea of grandeur, destiny and memory; which represents a very stimulating territory for SONAFILM."
Regarding the main guests, he added that "bringing together Trevor Jones and Roque Baños in the same edition is not only a matter of prestige, but also has artistic sense, since both have known how to work on the epic from different places, but with the same conviction in the narrative power of music."
Eight concerts and educational activities in different municipalities
SONAFILM 8 will host up to eight concertsEach one of a different nature and with a unique musical style linked to audiovisual media, in addition to various educational activities.
The program will open on July 31 with a special event whose final details, including the venue, are still being finalized and will be announced soon.
From that moment on, the festival will take place over several weeks in different municipalities of the Marina Alta region, consolidating its commitment to an increasingly diverse program. diverse, decentralized and ambitious.
Film Music: Made In Spain 4 will bring together prominent composers
The festival will also feature the participation of prominent Spanish audiovisual composers such as Federico Jusid (The Secret in Their Eyes), Arnau Bataller (Summer), Aránzazu Calleja (Akelarre), Juanjo Molina (Crushed Wings), Iván Martínez Lacámara (The paper house), Álvaro Peire (Fox) and Maite Arroitajauregi (Akelarre).
They will all star Film Music: Made In Spain 4, which will be held on August 14th at 20:00 PM in the Calp Auditorium.
This is the fourth installment of one of the most celebrated formats in SONAFILM's history, a unique symphonic concert within the national scene for being dedicated to scores from films and series of TV Spanish.

Brass Titans Fire & Film – performed by the Universal Brass Ensemble, conducted by José Martínez Colomina.
In a world premiere, the Universal Brass Ensemble, comprised of brass and percussion players from the Universal Symphony Orchestra and conducted by José Martínez Colomina, presents a vibrant journey through some of the most epic and unmistakable pieces of film music. The program will feature fanfares and emblematic compositions such as The Entrance of the Charioteers de Ben-Hur, the fanfare of Alatriste o Summon the Heroes by John Williams, in an evening designed to celebrate the strength, solemnity and evocative power of the great symphonic repertoire linked to the big screen.

Tribute to the Bridgertons – performed by the Valencia String Quartet.
Formed by Valencian teachers Lola Bendicho, Mara Ponce, Paloma Castellar, and Teresa Alamá, the Valencia String Quartet presents a journey through some of the songs associated with one of the most successful series of recent years. The program will include versions of songs such as Material Girl of Madonna, Diamonds from Rihanna or Thunder from Imagine Dragons, in an evening designed to evoke the refined universe of The BridgertonsThe event, which will also include a wine tasting in collaboration with the Aguilar WineryThis concert will have a particularly unique character within the festival, as it is not organized by a city council, but rather stems from a private initiative that has made it possible to further expand the reach of SONAFILM. Talks cinema – moderated by Gorka Oteiza (Soundtrackfest) and taught by the cast of invited national composers.
The Sala Multiespai l'Androna will once again host this educational activity about film music, designed for all audiences and focused on direct dialogue with some of the Spanish composers invited to the festival. Moderated by Gorka Oteiza, head of the website Soundtrackfest.com, the session will offer the public an engaging and accessible opportunity to learn about the creative processes, experiences, and key aspects of the work of those who shape music for the big screen. The event will also include a wine tasting.

Cinematic Pulse – performed by Connecta Percussió, with collaborations from Marina Pellín and Óscar Cortés.
Formed by Valencian professional percussionists Carles Mulet, Adrià Ribes, and Guillem Serrano, Connecta Percussió presents the world premiere of a show designed to bring film music into the realm of percussion, rhythm, and stage presence. With the participation of Marina Pellín and Óscar Cortés, the concert offers a journey through soundtracks such as Avatar, Origin, Top Gun, Interstellar o Skyfall, in a proposal that seeks to offer a vibrant and intense sound experience.
