Strong winds will continue to be a major feature in the Valencian Community in the coming hours. This weekend, the State Meteorological Agency has issued several weather warnings, both for the air and for coastal conditions. On the northern coast of Alicante, yellow warnings remain in effect from 15:00 PM to 23:59 PM this Friday, for gusts of up to 70 km/h.

Furthermore, AEMET has just raised the weather warning to orange for Saturday, January 31st in the Marina Alta region. From midnight on Friday night until noon on Saturday, this warning anticipates maximum gusts of 90 km/h along the northern coast of Alicante and coastal phenomena with waves of 3 to 4 meters.

Once the orange alert ends, the region returns to a yellow alert for wind until 18:00 PM on Saturday. During this time, maximum gusts could reach 80 km/h.

At the moment, on Sunday, February 1st, there are no active warnings in the Valencian territory.

Emergency services warn of the arrival of the new episode

The Ministry of Emergencies and Interior, through the Generalitat's Emergency Coordination Center (CCE), warns of the arrival of a new episode of strong winds and coastal phenomena during today and tomorrow and recommends taking extreme precautions in practically the entire Valencian Community.

In this regard, the Emergency Coordination Center has issued an orange alert for winds in northern and southern inland Castellón, in the southern half of Valencia, and throughout the province of Alicante, and an orange alert for coastal phenomena along the entire Alicante coastline. It has also activated a yellow alert for winds along the southern coast of Castellón and the northern coast of Valencia. A yellow alert for coastal phenomena has also been activated along the entire coast of the province of Valencia.

According to the State Meteorological Agency (AEMET), the forecast establishes that the strong wind episode will begin in the early hours of January 30-31 and will continue throughout the 31st with gusts that, in some places, could exceed 100 km/h.

In this regard, the CCE has established an extreme risk of forest fires in the interior of the province of Valencia and all of Alicante; and a high risk in the rest of the Valencian Community.

For this reason, the Ministry of Emergencies and the Interior is requesting maximum alert due to the convergence of various adverse weather phenomena, particularly on the roads. Citizens are especially advised to exercise extreme caution and avoid unnecessary travel, especially when driving, due to the possibility of landslides.

It is also advisable to check the condition of buildings to ensure there are no cornices, balconies, or facades in poor condition that could cause falling debris. Doors should also be secured. windows to prevent drafts that could lead to broken or falling glass and to secure items such as awnings, blinds and antennas; and remove flowerpots, cages or any object that could fall into the street.

It's also advisable to stay away from old or dilapidated houses and avoid walls and billboards. Parks, tree-lined avenues, light poles, and high-voltage towers can be dangerous.

Finally, it is important to avoid approaching seafront promenades or areas bordering the sea while the alert for coastal phenomena is in effect.
