In Cova de les Cendres (Cueva de las Cenizas) the oldest remains of the inhabitants of this municipality have been found, dating from the Upper Palaeolithic and Neolithic periods. Later, the Iberians passed through this land, until the arrival of the Romans. To the Arabs the terraced landscape is owed (the terraced landscape is its arrangement in steps or terraces).
In the thirteenth century the reconquest by King Jaume took place and in the fourteenth century, specifically in 1386, the municipal term was legally created.
The 15th, 16th and 17th centuries are marked by the continuous attacks of the Berber pirates, which is why a surveillance and defense system is necessary in the area: the Cap d'Or watchtower and the Church-Fortress of Santa Catalina. The Castle of Moraira It was built in 1744 and at its feet a small fishing population began to develop.
In the 19th century, Teulada Moraira was focused on the export of raisins to Europe and America, as well as on the farmingwith the cultivation of Muscat grapes and the production of the typical liqueur called mistela. Around the 60s, the first tourists arrived and the municipality began to focus its activity on tourism. .
