The Civil Guard has dismantled an alleged ring dedicated to committing irregularities in vehicle inspections at the Ondara ITV station, in an operation carried out on Monday morning. The police action resulted in at least six arrests and several more people under investigation, according to the newspaper Las Provincias.
Among those arrested was reportedly an officer of the Civil Guard. According to the investigation, the network fraudulently certified repairs that had not actually been carried out on vehicles with significant technical defects. Thanks to these practices, the cars passed the mandatory technical inspection and obtained the corresponding certificate of approval.
Among those arrested and under investigation are employees of the Ondara vehicle inspection station itself, as well as regular customers who allegedly benefited from the illegal scheme. In the initial phase, the Civil Guard has charged those involved with document forgery and offenses against road safety. However, according to the same sources, the case may be expanded to include charges of alleged membership in a criminal organization and ongoing corruption among private individuals.
The arrests forced the temporary suspension of the inspection center's operations. As a direct result, numerous drivers were unable to have their scheduled inspections and found the facilities closed or unable to operate.

They should do checks in Benidorm too!
