The RE:START URBACT project: rethinking territorial identities
El RE:START URBACT project It brings together various European territories with the aim of rethinking how cities and regions can build more coherent, competitive, and sustainable identities. This initiative seeks to align territorial development strategy with communication and citizen participation. The Marina Alta region is making progress in defining this new territorial branding strategy to strengthen its collective identity.
A strategy to align identity, development, and opportunities
The new strategy developed by La Marina Alta has as its main goal to organize and strengthen the territory's narrative. It connects its potential in areas such as quality of life, economy local, innovation, the sustainable and talent.
The aim of this initiative is not to create a communications campaign, but to establish a common strategic framework. This framework will allow for better coordination of public policies, economic initiatives, and social projects already underway.
The process prioritizes a collaborative approach, involving local government bodies, economic, social, and educational stakeholders, with the aim of building a shared vision for La Marina Alta. This model is based on two fundamental ideas:
- The identity of the territory is built from what already happens in the region and from its social and cultural reality.
- The future of the territory can be actively guided through a common strategy.

Territorial cooperation and next steps in the strategy
A central element of the project is the creation of a stable space for territorial cooperation, known as ULG (Urban Local Group)This group will allow for the coordination of local actors and ensure the continuity of the strategy.
With this initiative, La Marina Alta takes a step forward in defining its future development model, prioritizing an approach based on identity, quality of life and cooperation between local actors.
The ultimate goal is to position the region as a territory capable of attracting and retaining talent and investment, while strengthening its internal cohesion and its sustainable development model.

In the coming months, the process will continue with further working meetings with the Local Action Group ULG of La Marina Alta to advance the operational definition of the territorial narrative and its implementation.
