Last Thursday, an extraordinary plenary session was held at the Els Poblets Town Hall, during which the salary and dedication of the new Socialist councilor, Eva Candel, was approved. According to sources from the PSPV-PSOE (Socialist Party of Catalonia), this decision represents an 18% reduction compared to the salary received by the previous PRE councilor, Francisco Pérez.
Specifically, while Francisco Pérez earned €26.000 gross annually, Eva Candel will earn €18.600 gross annually, maintaining the same 60% dedication rate. This measure represents a saving of €7.400 in the cost of senior municipal officials.
During the plenary session, the mayor emphasized that these savings "will not remain in a drawer" and noted that, thanks to the commitment of the Socialist councilor, they will be used to create a specific allocation for youth in the 2026 municipal budget. The objective, he explained, is "to promote active and participatory youth policies, designed with the direct involvement of the town's young people."
Since joining the government, Eva Candel has assumed the positions of Sports and Youth, as well as serving as deputy mayor and member of the Local Government Board.
The PSPV-PSOE (Socialist Party of Els Poblets) emphasized that this decision reflects "Eva Candel's commitment to responsible and fair management of public resources and to investing in those who represent the future of the town."
