The sculptor from Ávila, Miguel González, has won the III Competition of Sculpture Villa de Calp 2026 with his work "Eternal feminine of the sea"The model of the piece, which will be a tribute to women, was selected a few days ago by the jury and will be installed in the Carrer Sant Roc square in Calp after its completion in the coming days. three monthsreceiving an award of €7.000.
The work chosen from among 19 proposals
A total of 13 artists they presented 19 works to the competition, for which a pre-selection was made according to the rules. Finally, the proposal "Eternal feminine of the sea" Miguel González's work was chosen by the jury appointed to evaluate the participating creations.
A tribute to life and to women
The winning sculpture will be made of patinated bronze and steel, mounted on a concrete platform. The artwork consists of two kneeling female figures supporting other women, forming a spiral. Its concept is intended as a tribute to women as the bearers of human life.
The prize for Miguel González is endowed with €7.000The sculptor now has a deadline of three months To bring the submitted model to life, adhering to the measurements established in the competition rules. Given its future outdoor location, the work must be made with resistant and durable materials that will not deteriorate over time. The sculpture will be permanently installed in the Carrer Sant Roc square.
The winning artwork will become the property of the Calp Town Council, becoming part of its municipal heritage. The Department of Culture first convened the "Villa de Calp" National Sculpture Competition a while ago two years, with the aim of revitalizing the old town and cultural heritage.
