The Ondara Pilot School was one of the main protagonists of the regional finals of Llargues of the XXXIII Jocs Esportius of the Valencian Community (JECV), held last Saturday June 14. The event, organized by the Federation of Pilota Valenciana, turned several streets of the municipality - La Roda, Sant Benet and Llibertat - into a sports competition venue where a total of ten games.
The Ondar school participated with five teams in different categories: junior (two teams), junior, children's, and youth. The results were outstanding: Four teams managed to climb onto the regional podium, including two gold medals, one silver and one bronze.
Two golds, one silver and one bronze for Ondara
In the Benjamin category, the Ondara A team won the final for first place a Dénia, while the B team lost the third place match against La Nucia, leaving in a notable fourth position.
In the under-12 category, Ondara won the autonomous title after beating Gata de Gorgos in the final. In the children's category, the school was runner-up after falling to Gata in the gold medal match. Finally, the youth team achieved the bronze by beating La Vall de Laguar.
Participation of the main schools in the Community
The regional finals in Llargues brought together teams from Agost, La Nucia, Sella-Relleu, Dénia, Gata de Gorgos, La Vall de Laguar and Ondara. The competition was structured with an initial round of matches for third place in each category, followed by the finals for the gold medal.
The final list of winners left Ondara as one of the schools most awarded at the event, adding four podium positions in a day that reinforces its prominent role in the field of grassroots Valencian pilot.
