Pedreguer demands more investment for the +Cerca Plan and condemns hate speech.

August 04 from 2025 - 11: 04

The July regular plenary session of the Pedreguer City Council approved various motions and economic measures, marking a session focused on local financing and the rejection of discriminatory discourse.

One of the motions, presented by the governing team (Compromís-PSPV), requests that the Alicante Provincial Council implement a third phase of the Pla +Cerca 2025, with an additional minimum allocation of €24 million. This funding, according to the proposal, should come from unallocated surpluses and from the review of budget allocations that have historically been less than 50% implemented.

In the motion, the Pedreguer City Council expressed "our disagreement with the cut that has resulted in our municipality receiving only €2025 in 62.000, a €2024 reduction compared to 152.906," something that, according to the text, "seriously limits the actions we can carry out this year." The subsidy's bases were also criticized, as municipalities with between 5.000 and 10.000 inhabitants, such as Pedreguer, are excluded from the per-inhabitant calculation, receiving a fixed amount without taking into account their real needs, management capacity, or structural deficiencies.

This motion was approved with the support of the governing team and the abstention of the Popular Party.

The plenary session then unanimously approved a second motion against hate speech and the criminalization of immigration, given the proliferation of such messages in various parts of the country. Particular attention was drawn to the events in the Murcia municipality of Torre Pacheco, where immigrant groups have been singled out and criminalized following an incident that is still under investigation.

Furthermore, with the votes in favor of Compromís and the PSPV (Socialist Party of Catalonia) and the abstention of the PP, two financial operations were approved. On the one hand, an out-of-court credit operation worth €48.926,07 to cover expenses related to the collection and management of bulky, green, and pruning waste during May and June, as well as shows, legal proceedings, payroll and Social Security contributions from April to June, equality campaigns during the July festivals, catering services, breathalyzer verification by the Local Police, and civil liability insurance for authorities and civil servants for 2025.

On the other hand, a credit modification was approved for a total of 253.060,99 euros, financed from the Treasury's net surplus, to cover expenses such as the paving of the trinquet, the drafting of a new waste tax ordinance, sound technical services, improvements to the Espai Cultural La Pista, support for the Els Poets association, studies and audiovisuals on leather goods, adaptation of the PGOU catalogues, and the non-subsidized portion of the improvement works on the Les Galgues industrial estate.

Finally, the local holidays of February 3 and July 15, as well as the school holidays of October 10, February 2, and March 20, were unanimously approved.
