The Pedreguer Town Council, represented by its Environment Councillor, Ferran Lloret Morell, participated in the past 17 18 and June at an international meeting held in Helsinki (Finland). This appointment is part of the European project Olympics of Sustainability: Winning for Health and Planet (OofS), an initiative funded by the program Erasmus+ | Sport – Cooperation Partnerships (ERASMUS-SPORT-2025-SCP) which seeks to promote sustainability in sport and encourage healthy habits among young people.
A European project for sustainability and youth
The OofS project brings together municipalities, associations and sports clubs from Portugal, Slovenia, Finland, and Spain (with the Pedreguer Town Council) with a clear objective: to encourage young people's participation in sports while promoting sustainable habits and environmental awareness. The initiative employs an innovative methodology where young people between 15 and 19 years They participate in sports activities and environmental challenges, strengthening teamwork and commitment to protecting the environment.
Through activities that combine sport, education. Environmental awareness and teamwork: the project seeks to make sustainability a practical, inclusive and attractive experience for young people.
Pedreguer's participation in Hèlsinki
The delegation from Pedreguer, headed by the Councilor for the Environment, Ferran Lloret MorellRepresentatives from Pedreguer attended an intensive working session in the Finnish capital. During the meeting, activities focused on exchanging experiences and strategic planning for the project's next objectives. Representatives from Pedreguer shared the table with partner organizations from Portugal, Slovenia, and Finland, the latter being the host country.
This participation represents a key opportunity for the Pedreguer Town Council to reinforce its commitment to sustainability and sport. Furthermore, it allows for the establishment of new avenues of collaboration with European entities and the transfer of successful experiences from other contexts to the municipality, thus enriching local initiatives.
