Prehistoric sites
The first is found in the mountain of Benirrames, Oliva's term (but which is included because its influence is the same). It is the oldest site and belongs to the Middle Palaeolithic and it is the habitat in a cave. Lithic material and animal remains have been found. From the Neolithic there are several caves with remains: the Cova de l'Ase, the Cova de Xical or the Cova Negra. There are also ceramic remains in Ambra, in the Muntanyeta Verda and the mountains of Bullentó.
One of the most important sites from the Bronze Age is the Pego marshland, in the El Pla area. It is a settlement. Later in history, the remains of the crop The Iberian sites found are El Xarpolar (La Vall de Gallinera), Segària, and Castellar de Oliva. Also found at Muntanyeta Verda and Tossalet de Sorell.
Roman age
In Pego there is a strong Roman footprint: the archaeological sites of Penyalva, the Heretat de Sala, the Favara game, the Gaià game, the Tossalet de les Mondes, l'Alter de Pau and Atzahila have been found.
Islamic era
From the XNUMXth century, Muslims settled in this territory. The oldest find from this time is the remains of a fortress at the top of the Miserat. An Islamic necropolis was found in Favara's departure. But the largest site from the Islamic period is the Castell d'Ambra.
Christian era
The urban centre of Pego, with its medieval village and the wall that surrounded it. Remains of that medieval village are the Room Portal, and a section of wall is also preserved in the courtyard of the House of Culture and another on the corner between Sant Lluís and Mestre Blasco streets.
