The Alicante Provincial Council has recognized the talent of guitarist and singer-songwriter Sandra Monfort with the Award for new cultural creators and entrepreneurs In the fifth edition of the Awards for Culture Alicante Miguel Hernández 2025The artist, originally from Pedreguer, has been recognized for her ability to to fuse Valencian musical roots with contemporary sounds that project the cultural richness of the province with a current and avant-garde perspective.
The awards ceremony will be held on Monday, November 3rd at the ADDA (Auditorium of the Alicante Provincial Council) in an event open to the public, presided over by the Deputy for Culture, Juan de Dios NavarroTickets are free and can be reserved through the link.
An artist who unites tradition and modernity
Monfort, guitarist and singer, has built a musical proposal that intertwines folk, boleros and electronic soundsinspired by figures such as Ovidi Montllor y Shell PiquerHer work not only rescues Valencian popular tradition, but reinterprets it with a modern and universal aesthetic, establishing herself as one of the most innovative voices of the new cultural scene.
From her beginnings, the artist from Pedreguer has stood out for a genuine style that blends poetic sensibility, local roots, and sound experimentation, projecting the Valencian cultural identity towards new audiences.
A tribute to Alicante's creativity
In addition to Sandra Monfort, the Alicante Provincial Council has awarded its highest honor in this edition to Professor José Carlos RoviraRovira, professor emeritus at the University of Alicante, was awarded for his career in the cultural and academic fields. He is a key figure in the study of Miguel Hernández and the creator of landmark projects such as the journal America Without a Name or Mario Benedetti Center for Ibero-American Literary Studies (CeMaB).
The title of Cultural Ambassador of the Province has fallen to the company Alhambra Guitars, based in Muro d'Alcoi, an icon of the Alicante luthier tradition and an international benchmark in the construction of classical and flamenco guitars.
Other winners in the 2025 edition
El Award for cultural innovation through ICTs has been awarded to Fluenz Collective, made up of artists and cultural curators Carlos Izquierdo y Sergi Hernandez, for his work in creating audiovisual installations and digital art projects exhibited in programs such as In-Sonora, NUMA o Online culture of the Consortium of Museums of the Valencian Community.
In the category of Promotion and dissemination of popular cultureThe award has gone to the Crevillente Holy Week Magazine, a century-old publication and the oldest of its kind in the Valencian Community, considered a key piece in the dissemination of this celebration declared of International Tourist Interest.
El Award for museum activity has recognized Alicante Water Museum, a cultural and interactive space that highlights the history of water in the city and promotes the revitalization of the historic center through a varied cultural and educational agenda.
The jury for the 2025 Miguel Hernández Alicante Culture Awards was made up of prominent figures from the cultural and academic fields, including Alicia Garijo, territorial delegate of the Valencian Institute of Culture; Catherine Iliescu y Asunción Amorós, vice-rectors of the University of Alicante; Jorge Soler, director of the Museum of Fine Arts of Alicante; Cristina Martínez, cultural director of the Juan Gil-Albert Alicante Institute of Culture; and María Dolores Padilla, deputy director of Theater Main city of Alicante, among others.
The deputy for Culture, John of God Navarro, has expressed gratitude for the involvement and commitment of all the people who are part of the jury and their contribution to the dissemination of Alicante culture.
