In the Muslim era Ondara became relevant. There was a castle that occupied the upper part of the town, of which only the Clock Tower remains: it is the only one that is preserved of the four that the castle had. According to tradition, the Cid Campeador stayed there during the winter from 1090 to 1091. Obviously, the Clock Tower is in the Muslim style, and is topped with a bell tower and the clock, which is still operated manually today.
The Ondara Clock Tower was restored in 2010 and is an important witness to the history of Ondara.
