A “record” festival: the XI Mostra Curts de Moscatell exceeds 1.000 short films and increases its prizes

El Municipality of Teulada, in collaboration with the Amics Cultural Association of Teulada and the Teulada Moraira Auditorium, organize the XI edition of the Mostra Curts de Moscatell, which will be held from August 24 to 28, 2026 at the Auditori Teulada Moraira. This edition has achieved a record participation with a total of 1.014 short films registered, consolidating the event as a benchmark festival in the film scene.

Record participation and international projection

La XI Mostra Curts de Moscatell has surpassed all previous records by receiving 1.014 short films from various countries such as Brazil, Canada, Portugal, Belgium, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Japan, and China, among others. These figures reinforce the national and international reach of the event. Furthermore, the Mostra maintains its status as a qualifying festival for the Goya Awardsbeing the only one in the Marina Alta with this recognition from the Academy of Filmmaking.

Of the more than 1.000 works of those presented, have been selected 25 short films, of which 9 The films are by directors from the Valencian Community. All screenings will take place at the Auditori Teulada Moraira.

New awards and support for film talent

Among the new features of this edition is the increase in the prize money. The prize for best short film (open theme) will be 1.500 EurosThe categories of best Valencian short film, best director, best performance and best short film on the theme of gender equality will include 1.000 Euros each. The audience award will be endowed with 500 EurosAdditionally, the new "A Future of Cinema" award is being introduced to recognize and promote young talent.

The jury for this eleventh edition will be made up of Teresa Cebrián, former president of the Valencian Audiovisual Academy; the Alicante-born film director Meka Ribera; and the actress from Xàbia Berta Bolufer.

Another initiative is the launch of a line of aid for the production and filming of short films in the municipality. These grants, the call for which will be published soon, aim to foster film activity and promote the cultural, scenic, architectural, and heritage values ​​of Teulada-Moraira, with special attention to the Moscatel wine legacy.

Tribute to Carlos Santos and outstanding activities

Every August, the short film festival takes place in Teulada as the cultural epicenter of a unique offering, which over the years, edition after edition, has not only grown in duration, but also in the number of participants and activities."

The councilor of Culture, Veronica MartinezHe emphasizes that "reaching the figure of more than a thousand registered short films for the first time confirms the excellent moment that the Mostra Curts de Moscatell is experiencing and demonstrates that the work carried out during these years has consolidated Teulada Moraira as a benchmark for the audiovisual sector, while generating new opportunities for talent and film creation."
